TRMBW™ & SEL Yoga Teacher Certification

Are you a yoga or wellness practitioner, educator, coach, social service worker,  health care worker, or helping professional?

Are you ready to up-skill your qualifications and become a trauma responsive service provider?

Do you want to serve your community in a way that protects their safety, wellbeing, growth and development?

Or maybe you’re longing to take a deeper dive into becoming trauma informed, healing yourself and deepening your own practice in the art of wellbeing?

The Rituals for Recovery Healing Arts Institute (HAI) welcomes you to its 200 hour “Trauma Responsive Mind-Body Wellness" (TRMBW™) & SEL Yoga Teacher Training.

Unlike other 200-hour Yoga Teacher Trainings, our program is designed to elevate instructors into trauma responsive educators, trainers or community leaders in social change.

What You’ll Learn

The 200 hour comprehensive training equips and empowers trainees to teach yin restorative yoga classes through a trauma informed lens to adults and youth looking to develop a sustainable practice focused on post traumatic growth and the art of wellbeing.  It instils the principles of yoga, energy, Jungian and positive psychology along with ~ trauma informed SEL, mindfulness, breathwork and and how to apply them in their practice. This training is an integrative framework for understanding how trauma and chronic stress impact the body and mind. In addition, Mental Health First Aid is an inclusive part of our program training and a prerequisite for our course participants to graduate.

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is the support provided to a person who may be experiencing a decline in their mental well-being or a mental health crisis. MHFA is a certified program from the Mental Health Commission of Canada.

The Mental Health Commission of Canada reports that one in every five Canadians experiences a mental health problem within a given year. While we often know a lot about physical illness, there tends to be less knowledge about mental health or substance use problems. This lack of understanding leads to fear and negative attitudes towards individuals living with these problems. It prevents people from seeking help for themselves and from providing appropriate support to people around them.

Whether you currently or intend to work with specialized populations such as youth or older adults, you can choose from;

Mental Health First Aid Standard- Click here for brochure: https://www.mhfa.ca/sites/default/files/course_pdfs/mhfa_standard_virtual_course_outline-en-fr-may-2021.pdf

Participants will learn how to…

  • Recognize signs that a person may be experiencing a decline in their mental well-being or a mental health or substance use crisis
  • Have conversations that encourage a person to:
  • Talk about their mental well-being
  • Discuss professional and other supports that could help with recovery to improved mental well-being
  • Reach out to these supports
  • Assist in a mental health or substance use crisis situation
  • Check in with one’s own mental well-being and take action as needed

As part of our "Rebuilding Communities Project Initiatives", a requirement for certification is that students will volunteer 10 hours teaching the RFR Method and bringing the gift of TRMBW and yoga to marginalized populations within their community.

TRMBW™ Certification

Graduates will be awarded a Rituals for Recovery HAI 200hr TRMBW™ & SEL Yoga Teacher designation (CYT 200) and certificate of completion.

They will also get a certificate of completion by Rituals for Recovery HAI and CYA-CE (Canadian Yoga Alliance Continued Education Program) for each module completed.

Our YTT graduates may thereafter register with the alliance as CYA Registered Yoga Teachers (CYA-RYT). Candidates may do so at 30% off.

Community Service

Students will have a 30-minute private call with a member of our team for Q&A, to discuss community partners, hours and approval of their certificate.

In-order to receive their certificate, students will have to complete ten hours of practice teaching as a community service.

You will be placed with a RFR community partner of choice where you will bring the gift of TRMBW and yoga, free of charge, to marginalized populations within the community.

The 100 Hour TRMBW™ & (SEL *F) Certification Program

We offer a 100 hour supplementary training program with two 50 hour  modules. The educator and trainer modules provide further trauma responsive mind body wellness instruction, knowledge and skills for long-term healing and enhanced quality of life.

It is for those wishing to design and facilitate wellness and social-emotional learning workshops and professional development programs educating communities, organizations, institutions and schools on how to become safe spaces.

Upon completion of the 100 hour training, graduates receive the RFR HAI  Social-Emotional Learning Facilitator (SEL*F) Certification.

TRMBW™ & SEL-F Level 1

RFR’s trauma-informed methodology is a somatic-based mindfulness approach to healing the whole-SEL-F from trauma, stress, and other universal mental health challenges that result from it.

The training model teaches us simple ways to regain regulation during times of stress and assist others in doing the same.

It is evidence-informed, in that practices have been chosen and adapted based on clinical and neuro-scientific knowledge about post-traumatic stress and its treatment.

TRMBW™ & SEL-F Level 2

This training was developed with an empirical understanding of the embodied experience of trauma.

It integrates core principals of epigenetics, neurodevelopment, grief, trauma, attachment and SEL learning theories with mindful healing, into a comprehensive approach for the client of trauma and loss, providers, and the broader community.

Completion of the RFR Level 1 Foundations Program is required prior to taking Level 2.

Level 3: 7 Day- In Person Retreat (2023) Details TBA

(Completion of the RFR foundations program and Level 2 is required prior to taking Level 3)

We offer equity tiered pricing for each 50-hour module and for complete programs. Students have the option of paying per module or for the entire course. Pricing for the complete program will depend on whether students take the 200 hour program alone or along with the 100 hour.

Our pricing system has three tiers as follows:

  • Tier 1: Community Builder: For folks who can afford to pay a bit more, you'll enable individuals in our community experiencing financial difficulties to join at a lower rate.
  • Tier 2: Community Sustainer: This is our base cost per module.

Frequently Asked Questions

Although our TRMBW™ programming is for everyone; yoga teachers, educators, coaches, social service workers, wellness practitioners, health care workers, or helping professionals who wish to gain the skills and knowledge to implement trauma responsive services and practices for healing and prevention of trauma.
Although there are no prerequisites to take this training, it is recommended that you have some knowledge of yoga, trauma and recovery. A consistent weekly yoga and ritual practice for wellbeing is preferred.
Yes! If you’ve already completed a yoga teacher training course – this is a great addition to your yoga teacher training or simply a great refresher if you took one several years ago. You’ll receive valuable trauma informed resources, tools, practices, information, and video content to add on to your previous training.
The Yoga Alliance is an organization dedicated to yoga education in the United States. Though the Yoga Alliance is involved in many outreach programs, including the International Day of Yoga, it is best known for setting recommended standards for yoga teacher training programs.
Yoga Alliance is a professional association with an annual membership fee. Yoga Alliance does not certify teachers or accredit schools. Yoga Alliance’s credentialing system is a directory, not to be confused with other types of credentialing systems (such as certifications, accreditations, licensure, etc.).

You often see references to yoga teachers or studios being "certified" by the Yoga Alliance.

This is a misconception, because the Yoga Alliance does not certify teachers, but rather registers teacher training programs that meet its minimum standards in the following categories: 200-hour, 500-hour, prenatal, and children's yoga. For example, at the 200-hour level, the Yoga Alliance breaks down how many hours should be spent on each part of the training, including teaching methodology, physiology, philosophy, etc.

If a yoga studio's teacher training program meets these standards, they can register with the Yoga Alliance.

The Rituals for Recovery HAI is awaiting its approval to receive its credential as a registered yoga school (RYS) and continued education provider (CEP) with the Canadian Yoga Alliance (CYA) and Yoga Alliance. Once received, graduates who complete all training requirements will therefore be eligible to register with YA and or the CYA as registered yoga teachers (RYT 200) should they choose to.

Many of our instructors including the Founder Amanda are RYT with Yoga Alliance. A Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) is a distinction given to yoga teachers whose training and teaching experience meet Yoga Alliance requirements. A RYT must complete training with a Registered Yoga School (RYS), be confirmed by Yoga Alliance and current with annual fees and Continuing Education.
For each 50-hour training module completed, you will receive a certificate of completion by Rituals for Recovery HAI and CYA-CE (Yoga Alliance, and/or Canadian Yoga Alliance Continued Education Program).

For all 4 modules completed you will receive a Rituals for Recovery HAI TRMBW™ 200hr YTT designation and certificate of completion.

For all 6 modules completed you will receive a Rituals for Recovery HAI TRMBW™ 300hr YTT designation and certificate of completion.
Currently our 200 Hour TRMBW™ YTT and 100 Hour TRMBW™ Level & Level 2 Training is only offered on-line. We plan to offer these trainings live in 2023 along with our TRMBW™ Level 3 ~ Master Trainer in-person retreat.
All sessions are recorded. Although we know life happens! If you are unable to attend all sessions, live recordings will be available and can be accessed the following day. However, in-order to graduate you will need to complete the required number of contact hours, homework assignments, lessons, practicum, final test and community hours. To get the most out of the program, attending live whenever possible is best.
The 200-hour TRMBW™ YTT is taught over a 6-month period and can be completed within that time. The 100 Hour TRMBW™ Educator and Trainer Modules are taught over three months and can be completed within that time. However, you can start and finish the program modules at your own pace! You can take as long as you'd like to watch all of the pre-recorded videos and live session recordings for each module training. There is no deadline for completing each module or for completing the full 200/300-hour certification. Once you have watched all the videos, completed your practicum, taken the final test and completed your community hours, you will receive your certificate of completion.
How does lifetime access sound? After enrolling, you have unlimited access to the course lessons, videos, quiz’s and resources for this course for as long as you like!
This educational training program is truly life-changing, so we doubt that you would ever choose to drop out.

Once you signed up for the online course your tuition fee & payment plan are however non-refundable.
We give ourselves with an open heart, and we trust that you can find ways to receive the invaluable gifts we share.

However, if due to unforeseen circumstances, Rituals for Recovery must postpone or cancel any of our training programs, the option of a full refund processed within 30 days will be given. Otherwise, you may choose to transfer your payment to a future program date.
