RfR in the Community

Trauma Responsive Communities is Rituals for Recovery’s comprehensive model for rebuilding communities by restoring relationships and providing trauma-responsive training and prevention and intervention services to marginalized groups in targeted neighborhoods.

The system is characterized by stabilization, safety from physical harm and re-traumatization; an understanding of clients and their symptoms in the context of their life experiences, cultures, and society; open and genuine collaboration between provider and consumer at all phases of service delivery, including the co-creation of a holistic recovery plan; an emphasis on capacity building and overall well-being rather than symptom management; and an understanding of trauma responses as attempts to cope. It employs a community mobilizing model grounded in the belief that community members are the experts when it comes to identifying and addressing the issues affecting them most.

The main components of TRC will include:

  • Leadership, Recovery, Prevention, Intervention, and Trauma Resolution services for marginalized groups
  • Community Healing Arts Institutes & Trauma Resource Centers
  • Trauma Responsive Mind-Body Wellness (TRMBW™) & SEL Educational Workshops: Training for social service agencies, hospitals, emergency responders, and service providers.
  • Awareness and Response Training: For site faculty and staff.
  • Prevention and Trauma Responsive Framework Implementation: Protocol and policy development.

Program Offerings:

Leading in Trauma-Responsive Workplaces (TRW) and Communities (TRC)

Becoming a Trauma-Responsive Workplace (TRW) involves transforming organizational culture, policies, and practices to prioritize the physical and psychological safety of employees. This approach aims to reduce stress, burnout, and re-traumatization while fostering resilience and recovery within the workforce. Implementing a trauma-responsive strategy requires systemic change at various organizational levels, aligning with the five principles of trauma-informed care. These principles guide leadership, workforce development, policy-making, and overall employee well-being.

Trauma-Responsive Workplaces (TRW) is the cornerstone of Rituals for Recovery’s vision to revolutionize wellness in the workplace. Through consulting, leadership training, and prevention programs, we challenge traditional models, fostering empathy and understanding regarding the impacts of trauma and systemic oppression. Our programs are designed to disrupt the status quo, providing a comprehensive approach to trauma-responsive leadership and care.

RfR in Schools

Trauma Responsive Schools (TRS) is Rituals for Recovery's comprehensive model for providing training, prevention, and intervention services in educational institutions, including private and public elementary and high schools, colleges, and universities.

TRS aligns with our current efforts to ignite and sustain a community-wide movement to combat complex trauma and eliminate the stigma and suffering that result from it, aiming to reduce Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and end all forms of violence affecting at-risk young people, their families, and their direct service providers.

To create a cultural shift in which abuse and violence are not tolerated, RfR tailors proven and successful strategies—including individual and group support, public education, workforce training, community organizing, advocacy, youth leadership development, and expertise in trauma-informed and responsive care—to our school communities. The overarching vision of Trauma Responsive Schools is to improve school climate across public primary, secondary, and post-secondary settings. This is achieved by realigning and integrating school-based responses to reflect a coordinated, holistic, and replicable approach, particularly inclusive of the needs of individuals who have experienced trauma. Our approach recognizes the pervasiveness of trauma, addresses systems of oppression, violence, and mental health challenges, facilitates healing, supports optimal well-being, and prevents re-traumatization.

The main components of TRS include:

  • Consulting for Trauma Responsive School Programming and Change Management
  • Awareness and Response Training: For school-site faculty and staff
  • Prevention and Trauma Responsive Framework Implementation: Protocol and policy development
  • Rituals for Recovery Student Clubs
  • Prevention, Leadership, and Intervention Services for Youth
  • Trauma Responsive Mind-Body Wellness (TRMBW™) & SEL Educational Workshops: Leadership training for students, educators, parents, and caregivers
  • Continued Support through Rituals for Recovery Online Membership Portal
  • TRS G.R.O.W. Program: Nurturing Trauma-Responsive Learning SpacesT
The G.R.O.W. program focuses on building resilience and well-being through trauma-informed practices and outreach.
